Chelsea Crowe
Chelsea Crowe, 26, is an accomplished Jazz, R&B singer. At 18 Crowe opened for Tony Bennett at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and she currently tours with world reknowned author and composer James McBride. Crowe is currently working on her solo album of original soul/pop compositions and hopes to have a single out within the year. Chelsea’s acting experience includes lead roles in two independent films, as well as a role in DJ Mendle’s A Love Letter for My Father. She currently lives in Manhattan.
Chelsea is a recent graduate of the famed Jazz and Contemporary Music program at New School University in New York City. She studied and performed with many of the music’s highly respected players, including Wynton Marsalis, Junior Mance, Billy Harper, Charli Persip, Charles Tolliver, and Bucky Pizzarelli, to name a few. At age 18, she appeared as the opening act for jazz legend Tony Bennett at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and that same year was a featured vocalist in the Festival Di Musica in Lake Como, Italy.
Chelsea served as the vocalist for bebop icon Charlie Persip’s big band. She can be heard on their latest CD, Intrinsic Evolution. She has also performed with Legendary Brazilian Drummer Paulo Braga, who was Carlos Jobim’s drummer of choice, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, and Gene Bertoncini, among others. She has sung at Jazz At Lincoln Center (Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola), Jazz Arts Café, Minton’s Playhouse, Sweet Rhythm, Cachaca, and the Dizzy Gillespie Auditorium.
Chelsea lives in Montclair, N.J.
